Naming Baby Girl #3

I love names. I always have been obsessed with names. Which is weird to those that know me well, because I never had any intention nor desire to have any children. Ever. 

Five babies later and now pregnant with number six...

At least I had amassed a large file of baby names over the years. It was actually the way my first blog launched into a massive reader base. Bohemian & Beachy Baby Name Lists. If you saw those floating around Pinterest in 2012/2013, that was me. 

Our first three children had one middle name but we later added a second middle name when they reached around 2-3 years old. 

Their names are : 

Lorelai Renée Capri [birth : Lorelai Renée] [nickname : Rory]

Aubrie Meilani Danae [birth : Aubrie Danae] [nickname : Brie/Breezy]

Everett Lucas Makai [birth : Everett Lucas] [nickname : Ever]

We added second middle names because we never thought we would have any more children. *Insert three laughing emojis here.*

Then came our second set of three babies and we just added the second middle names from the start to save paper.  The boys names are : 

Zephyr Leo Kainoa 

Ocean Liam Gabriel 

This leaves us with Baby Number Last; our newest baby girl. 

Her name was originally chosen by my husband in entirety : Clover Esmé Grace with the nickname Coco. I love the name Coco but didn't want to use it as a full first name. Clover is the name that Daren used to not like at all, but it grew on him so much that he was adamant that this would be her name. 

We negotiate on everything and love to have our other children's input on their new sibling's name. It's a fun process and one of my favorite things about pregnancy : wondering who this new person will be and what they shall be called. 

Our top name contenders might surprise some people. They were Clover, Kate, Katelyn, Laci, Indi, Juniper, Isabella, and Felicity. 

I love all of those names so much! We give so much thought and dedication to the naming process with each child. We make lists, we attach meaning, we veto, we revote, we change our minds and then we finally choose the right name after a couple ultrasounds where we can see the baby's sweet face. 

After yesterday's ultrasound, and gender confirmation, we are sure of her name now. Just as each of our last 3 [all the boys] were named soundly by their 3D ultrasound pictures, this baby girl is as well. 

Her name is Capri Isabella Rose. 

When I added Capri to Lorelai's name as a toddler it was because of the song "Capri"  by Colbie Caillat on her debut album "Coco" and I LOVE that song. It's still one of my top favorites! I have always wanted to use it as a first name but we kept having boys, ha! 

In case you're wondering, Lorelai is thrilled about sharing one of her middle names with her new baby sister. Both girls cried tears of joy when they found out they were getting a baby sister this time. They adore their baby brothers and act like little moms to them! They are also ready for pink and lace and ribbons as much as their mama is!

Capri means whimsical, playful, beautiful. It is an Island in Italy and you have to look up the Catholic churches there because they're incredible and really really old. There are some amazing Saints from Capri that taught there. It has been on my bucket list of places to travel to for quite some years. One of those Saints, Constantius of Capri, feast day is May 14th - which is close to our c-section delivery date!

Isabella is a name that I couldn't let go. Despite its massive popularity, the meaning is so important : Consecrated to God. Also the name of two Catholic Saints that happen to both be Princesses. This young lady I am carrying is quite a princess with her making strong demands on what I can and cannot eat. Ha!

Rose is all about Mama Mary. May is the month dedicated to Mary, Mother of God [Luke 1:43] which makes sense since Mother's Day is in May. This flower and its scent is often attributed to Mary. According to St Cardinal John Newman the Blessed Virgin Mary is called Rosa Mystica, the Mystical Rose, because she "is the Queen of spiritual flowers; and therefore she is called the Rose, for the rose is fitly called of all flowers the most beautiful." 

The other story part to Rose has to do with the first Marian miracle I learned about while on the journey to becoming Catholic : Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Miracle of the Roses and St Juan Diego's Tilma. Honestly, you just have to watch both of these documentaries about it on Prime : here and here. Our Lady of Guadalupe is just one of my most favorite miracles to read about. Within the first TEN years of this miracle, 9 MILLION people in Mexico had converted to Catholicism. They left their multiple gods for The One True God because of Mary's appearance and miracle. 

Capri will be called Capri or Coco. Oh Coco Bella! Our sweet Coco Bella Rose! It's so cute I can't help it! She can go by Capri, Isabella or Rose as an adult or any number of combinations! The photo below is of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Rose which we plan on planting at our new home, Lord willing. We are hoping to build/buy our first home this year. 

Prayers please for Capri's safe delivery as this will be my sixth c-section. It is my third c-section in under three years and I get super anxious about each c-section. Capri is our first surprise baby since our first daughter, Lorelai, but no less wanted and loved. We are so thrilled to complete our family with this surprise baby girl.
